Hello EHS Cougars and Families,
I am emailing you today with some very exciting news. At 9:00 am local time, U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan recognized Evergreen High School as a 2015 National Blue Ribbon Award winner! This is the highest academic award a school can receive. This year, 335 public and private schools of all levels from across the country were given this award. To be eligible for the award, a school must demonstrate high academic success over the course of five years. We were the only public high school in Colorado to be nominated for this honor.
Before you watch the video, there are a few groups that I would like to thank for all that they do. First, I’d like to thank the PTSA, the Evergreen Education Foundation, and the various other booster clubs and organizations that contribute to our overall success.
I’d also like to thank you, our students and families. We are able to achieve this level of success because our students come to school every day ready to learn. Parents, thank you for emphasizing the importance of an education. Thanks for the countless hours you have spent helping your children with their homework or studying for the tests and quizzes. Thank you for checking their grades, and teaching them to do their best, no matter how hard the subject is. Students, thank you setting high academic goals for yourself, and working hard to achieve those goals. Evergreen High School is a rigorous school, yet we have one of the highest graduation rates in the state. Nice job!
Finally, I’d like to thank our staff for all of their hard work. Our mission is to engage all students in rigorous, creative, and innovative educational experiences that prepare them to advance in the global community. Each one of our staff members- the teachers, para-educators, custodians, lunch staff, campus supervisors, counselors, office staff and administrators are dedicated to our common goal and work hard every day, setting high expectations for our students and providing the environment and tools necessary to be successful. Our success would not be possible without each of you.
